
Monday 3/31:
- Bangor moved to 2-4 with a 9-3 victory over Wilson Area. Kaileigh McGowan’s 3RBI double cleared the bases in the third inning broke open a 2-2 ballgame. Marissa Siu and Madalynn Giera combined to fan six Warriors and scatter seven hits.
- Notre Dame Green Pond continues to dominate nearly all of their competition. They began the week by demolishing Southern Lehigh 15-3. The sisters Ryan, Sydney and Addison, began the scoring with back to back home runs and Sydney went yard once again in the fourth to invoke the run rule. Through this game, the Crusaders have outscored their opponents 83-11(and spoiler alert, if you keep reading, you’ll see they keep doing it this week). Hannah and Natalie Lilly both finished with 3RBI, while Sydney Ryan’s long shots gave her 5RBI. Lily Kelly hit a 2-run homer for Southern Lehigh in the loss.
- Kutztown took care of business in their 10-0 victory over Schuylkill Haven in non-league competition. Jade Fitzgerald had a 4RBI day, including a 2-run home run. Sadie Berger hit the RBI single that ended the game in the mercy rule, scoring Ava Kutz. Brianna Bauscher struck out seven and walked zero in her 56 pitch no-hitter.
- Exeter kept Governor Mifflin winless via a 14-3 six inning win. Marion Eagle’s 2-run single ended the game in the sixth inning. Cheyenne Boyles and Avery Gibbons continue to heat up, accounting for 2RBI each. Meghan Moyer was 3-for-4 at the dish with 3RBI. Mackenzie O’Brien struck out 12.
- Twin Valley used an eight run first inning on their way to a 12-0 win over Daniel Boone. Olivia Escalona had a 3RBI day, including a first inning 2RBI single. Erin Cromwell and Maggie Stoltzfus walked none and struck out 12 while allowing only three hits. Emma Hahn closed out the scoring with a solo home run in the third.
- Hamburg kicked off its week with a 15-1 defeat of Berks Catholic. The Hawks piled on late, with nine runs in the sixth inning. Kaida Chwatek hit a 2-run home run out to left in the fifth, extending the lead to 6-1 at the time. Norah Davey had a 3-hit day, compiling 4RBI. Mackenzie Hoover batted in three more. Molly Krick pitched a one-hitter, needing just 62 throws to get through six innings.
- Schuylkill Valley used their speed game to narrowly defeat Brandywine Heights 7-6. A Brooke Andrews inside the park home run to left broke a 1-1 tie in the second inning. Gabby Leone did the same in the fourth, chasing home Ella Martin. Martin would be the third player to hit an inside the park home run, bringing in two runners ahead of her to push the lead to 7-2. Brandywine Heights rallied late, loading the bases in the seventh after an error and two singles. Lizzie Tomaine hit a hard shot to second base, resulting in an error and two runs coming in, cutting the lead to 7-6. With just one out, the Bullets had a shot to tie or win it, but Christina Schuster grounded out and Kaitlyn Steventon flew out to center to end the game. In defeat, Steventon struck out seven in the circle.
- Oley Valley snapped a three game losing streak, blowing by Antietam 19-0. Lynx batters walked 16 times and struck out only once, as they piled up ten runs in the first inning to set the tone for the day. Five of those ten came on passed balls and errors. Brianna Garcia finished the day with 3RBI. Maddison and Emma Ott each added two. Oley Valley only had six hits in the rout. Koryn Reinstein threw a three-inning abbreviated no-hitter, striking out six.
- Wyomissing snapped a three game losing streak by getting by Tulpehocken 13-4. Eight of the nine Spartans batters had a hit and seven had at least two. Addison Lecher, Caris Way, Kyla Lytle and Taylor Watts all had 2RBI. Julianne Forry had 2RBI for Tulpehocken, as did Leanne Eckenrode. Zoee White had a three hit day.
- Northern Lehigh took a late 6-1 lead on Salisbury and hung on for the 6-4 win on the road. Zaira Stokes scored first for the Falcons on a solo home run in the second inning, flying one out to center field. Three errors allowed four runs to cross, building a 6-1 lead for the Bulldogs. The Falcons trailed 6-1 going to the seventh, but had a chance to tie or take the victory. Jenna Swoyer hit a 2-run single over the head of the center fielder to make it 6-3 and a bases loaded fielders choice closed the lead to 6-4. Tessa Kemmerer was the final hope for Salisbury, but grounded out to third base, giving Northern Lehigh the win.
Tuesday, 4/1:
- Muhelnberg lost a two-game winning streak, falling at Northern Lebanon 17-2. Jaela Eaton and Madi Wentzel accounted for the only two runs batted in for the Muhls, on a sac fly and single. Northern Lebanon came away with 14 hits and capitalized on 14 hits, seven walks and two errors.
- Jim Thorpe rolled over Notre Dame East Stroudsburg 33-0. The Olympians scored 13 in the first and third innings of the run-rule shortened contest, taking advantage of 24 walks and needing only eight hits. Thirty-one RBI were amassed, with five belonging to Isabella Sully and Isabella Llyod each.
- Emma Freeman struck out 14 in her no-hitter, as Northwestern Lehigh defeated Saucon Valley 8-0. Shelby Mitman’s hit into the outfield resulted in an error in right that cleared loaded bases, including herself. With the 4-0 lead secured, the Tigers went on to win their fourth in a row.
- Everyone played a part in Freedom’s 18-5 win over Central Catholic. Maia D’Amico’s 3-run home run put the Patriots ahead 4-0 in the first inning. Eight more runs were plated in the second inning to make the lead insurmountable at 13-0. D’Amico and Hannah Heidemann led the way with a 4RBI afternoons, Alyssa Laubach contributed three RBI on three hits.
- Morgan Laub threw a one-hitter featuring seven strikeouts, as Whitehall downed Bethlehem Catholic 10-0 in six innings. Isabella Borsuk broke up the no-hit bid with a single in the fifth. Nya Brown knocked in four runs and scored two times in her 3-for-4 effort. Molly McFetridge was 2-of-2 with 2RBI.
- Stroudsburg got back to their winning ways, shutting out East Stroudsburg North 9-0. Jordan Cook used 92 pitches to shutout the Timberwolves in a no-hitter. She struck out five and walked two. Three of the Mounties’ first five runs scored on errors, bolstering the early lead. Katren Lavra led the way with a 2-for-2 day and 2RBI, including a second inning RBI single. Callender cracked a solo home run to left, capping the scoring,
- Easton took out the frustration of losing their last two games on Dieruff, rolling 15-0 in three innings. Audrey Rinda fanned nine in her one-hitter. She helped her own cause significantly, smashing a 3-run double to left in the third, making it an 11-0 game. Kade Walsh also had a 3RBI day and Kailyn Castellano added two more.
- In a battle of top EPC contenders and foes in the District XI 6A field, Liberty emerged with the 9-6 win over Emmaus. A four-run third inning broke the game open for the Hurricanes. Ava Tomac knocked in two runs with a single to right, upping the lead to 5-2. Abby Derr helped the Green Hornets get back into the game with a 2-run home run to center that brought in Sadie Haefeli. However, the Hurricanes showed off their own power, responding with solo shots from Ella Quayle and Kritzie Diaz-Rivera. Avery DeFanti homered in the top of the seventh for the Hornets, but the lone run was not enough.
- The Blue Eagles stretched their winning streak to four, pounding William Allen 17-0. Alina Weaver’s first inning grand slam was the exclamation point in a 14-run inning. Seven walks and five errors compounded problems for the Canaries, as Weaver and Allysse Kavanaugh combined to allow two hits and strikeout eight.
- Northampton held off Parkland 8-5. Hannah Duerr homered in the fourth, bringing in Josephine Siegfried and widening a 4-3 lead to 6-3. She then provided an encore solo shot in the sixth that made it a 7-4 contest. With back to back one out walks in the seventh, the Trojans did get a late rally going. Elizabeth Pinkham doubled in a run, but Ami Patel’s groundout to short ended the comeback chance. Hannah Duerr was 4-of-4 with the 3RBI from the two home runs, scoring four times. Claire Lack, from the 7-hole in the lineup, was 2-for-4 and batted in two runs. Anna Belletieri went 2-for-4 with 2RBI for Parkland.
- Pleasant Valley moved to 5-3 by run ruling Pocono Mountain West 13-3 in five innings. The Bears attacked early, scoring four in the first on a wild pitch, an error, a groundout by Brianca Pridham and a hit from Jovie Valenzuela. Three more errors and two dropped third strikes scored five more runs as the game continued. Pridham knocked a deep fly to left, as well. Kailyn Getz struck out nine in 3.2 innings of work.
Wednesday, 4/2:
- Pen Argyl took command of a close game with Bangor, eventually running away with an 8-0 win. Abby Scherer’s 3-run home run in the third with two outs broke open what had been a 1-0 Green Knights lead and a very evenly played game until then. Rylee Sampson and Talla Curtolo each knocked in two runs in the sixth inning to put the game away. Jillian Bradley was solid again, giving up three hits, walking four and striking out 11.
- Hannah Lilly picked up her 100th career hit in Notre Dame Green Pond’s 26-4 rout of Catasauqua. Not one, not two, but four home runs left the park for the Crusaders. NDGP through this game has now outscored opponents 109-15. Freshman Riley Palank continues to put up big numbers for her squad, homering in the second inning and bringing in five runs on the day. Natalie Lilly batted in a career high eight runs on four hits. Claire Ceraul, Sydney Ryan and Natalie Lilly also hit big flies. In the loss, Briana Deschane hit a grand slam.
- In the battle of Colonial League newcomers, Lehighton rolled over Jim Thorpe 19-8, scoring in all six innings. The Indians went yard four times, including a Sophia Wise grand slam. Brynn Mriss also cleared the bases on her own grand slam in the sixth after Wise had hit a solo shot earlier in the inning. Wise finished the day with 6RBI and five more came from Mriss. Aliyah Nothstein fanned eight despite being charged with six earned runs and allowing ten hits.
- In an early season upset, Northern Lehigh picked off Palisades 6-5. Rhiley Poniktera put the Pirates up 2-0 in the first on her single into left field. The Bulldogs replied with four in the bottom of the inning on a Tegan Simms 2RBI double and Skyelar Horack 2RBI single. Jordyn Bonelli tied the game in the second inning with her single to short. Kylee Snyder put the Bulldogs back in front, as her bunt attempt was fumbled in the infield. With two on and one out in the sixth, the Pirates could not rally, as Teman and Bonelli each flew out. In the loss, Karlye Teman struck out nine more as she continues to rewrite the record books at Palisades.
- A late rally propelled Saucon Valley past Palmerton 6-5. The two teams combined to get three runners on base through the first three innings. Tessa Sander led off Palmerton’s fourth with a double and advanced on an error. She came across to score when Grace Schneider bunted her in. Saucon Valley took the lead in the bottom of the fourth on an Eliza Sullivan single into right. Saucon would go on to load the bases in the inning, but Rylan Best struck out. Back to back doubles along with an error in the fifth put the Blue Bombers back on top 4-2. Saucon trailed 5-3 going to the bottom of the seventh. Ryan Gall led off with a triple and came in on a fielders choice. Savannah Schlegel tied the game by singling home Alexis Quinones. After two strikeouts, the game seemed destined for extra innings, but an error at third base off a hard hit grounder from Morgan Seyfried scored the walk-off winner for the Panthers.
- Ten runs in the first inning allowed the Southern Lehigh Spartans to cruise to a 14-2 win over Wilson. Demi Lewis led her team with 4RBI. Pitcher Delaney Young from the 9-spot batted in three more and struck out five in the circle.
- Exeter routed Reading 19-0 for their second victory of the season. Ten different players recorded at least one RBI and the Eagles compiled 14 hits and walked eight times. Cheyenne Boyles fanned five and only gave up one hit over four innings. Jadee Ruiz-Ravello hit a 2-run home run to put the Eagles in double figures at 11-0. Mackenzie O’Brien had a 3-for-5 day and batted in three runs. Eight errors committed by the Red Knights lengthened the Eagles’ lead.
- Wilson continued to gain momentum on their season, blasting Governor Mifflin 14-0. Tatum Werley hit a solo home run and Abby Zerbe added two runs on her own ball over the fence. Ava Legath finished the game with 3RBI and ten Bulldogs recorded a run batted in or more. Shannon Bratton struck out six over three innings and Madi Farrell returned to the circle for two innings of one-hit ball. The win marks the fourth in a row for the Bulldogs, who began their season 0-2.
- Seventeen straight runs crossed home plate for Muhlenberg after initially trailing Daniel Boone 5-4. Thirteen hits along with eight Blazers errors contributed to blowing the game wide open in the third and fourth innings. Ava Missimer scored twice and knocked in three runs on her two hits. Madi Wentzel was 3-of-4 with 4RBI and scored twice. Kaylee Jablonski was also 3-for-4 and scored three times while bringing three more home.
- On a rainy afternoon, the Fleetwood Tigers completed one of the most improbable comebacks of the entire season to date, defeating Conrad Weiser 13-11. Once trailing 11-1, the Tigers were one out from being run ruled and the game ending. However, Peyton Trexelr singled in two runs and extended the game, bringing the score to 11-3. Fleetwood then began the comeback, starting with a two out rally in the sixth inning. Isabelle Santangelo singled through the hole at short, making it 11-4. Then, Skyla Baer doubled home two more. An error at short then allowed two more runs on a ball hit by Trexler. Kathryn Neid, the 9-batter, was the seventh batter in a row to reach, doubling to left and bringing the Tigers within 11-10. Blair Rauenzahn put Fleetwood ahead for the first time all day, doubling up the middle. Fleetwood then worked around a one out single in the last of the seventh for the Scouts and came away with the victory. In defeat, Skylir Berger had 3RBI and both Lily McPherson and Alex Trevena had two hits and 2RBI.
- The Berks Catholic Saints walked 12 times and needed only four hits in their 18-1 rout of Antietam. Eleven runs scored on wild pitches or passed balls. Brinley Harter got the start in the circle for the Saints and she fanned nine as part of her three inning two-hitter. Giana Mirenda homered along the way, accounting for her 2RBI.
- Kutztown used a four run fifth inning to rally past Hamburg 5-2. Jade Fitzgerald started the rally with a leadoff single into right. She moved up to second on a throwing error. Brianna Bauscher, meanwhile, also singled and moved up on defensive indifference. With two in scoring position, Kourtney Dietrich singled up the middle to break the tie. A Norah Davey error at short allowed Baushcer to come home, increasing the lead to 3-1. With two outs, Sadie Berger doubled to left, bringing home two more insurance runs Sadie Berger finished her day with two hits and three runs batted in. Brianna Bauscher gave up eight hits, but her defense was able to limit run production by the Hawks.
Thursday, 4/3:
- Easton left six runners on through the first four innings of a 4-1 loss at Pocono Mountain East. The Cardinals’ first twelve were all retired in order. In the top of the fifth, the Rovers took a 1-0 lead when Audrey Rinda singled home Faith Zimmerman. The Cardinals countered in their half of the inning with a dropped third strike and walk to leadoff. Victoria Lee gave her squad the lead, scoring on a wild pitch. Only one Red Rover would reach base in their final six outs. The Cardinals won despite being one-hit by Rinda. and striking out 13 times.
- Emmaus took care of business handily against Dieruff, scoring 17 runs in the first inning and winning 20-0. Avery DeFanti went yard as part of the first inning rout. The Hornets racked up 12 walks and ten hits, as 21 batters came to the plate in the opening turn at bat. DeFanti finished with 4RBI and both Haleigh Gigliotti and Abby Derr batted in three. Amanda King saw her first action in the circle and struck out seven as part of a 32 pitch no-hitter.
- Liberty recorded 18 hits in a 14-2 victory at Pocono Mountain West. Addy Smith went 3-for-4, scored twice and batted in four runs. Mikayla Seacor and Sophia Rivera each were 3-of-4. The top four in the Hurricanes lineup scored 12 of the runs and nobody in the lineup struck out in five innings.
- Palmerton powered bast Catasauqua 15-0 in three innings. Tessa Sander and Mackenzie Ferber combined for three inside the park home runs. Sander ended the day with 3RBI and Ferber had two. Sam Wolfe threw the mercy rule shortened one-hitter, striking out three.
- Stroudsburg ran its record to 5-1, slipping past Northampton 4-3. The teams exchanged 2-out runs in the third inning before Stroudsburg moved the lead to 4-2 in the fourth. Jordan Cook led off the inning with a double up the middle and Callender, pinch running for her, scored on a Madi Perez hit through the right side of the infield. Katren Lavra doubled home Perez and Ava Fagan-Huse tripled to chase Lavra in. Liberty loaded the bases in the fifth. Ro Echevarria walked with the bases juiced to force in a run with no outs, but the Hurricanes would not score another with the golden opportunity before them. Hannah Duerr singled to open the seventh, but was wiped out 8-2 trying to score on a Claire Lack hit.
- Molly McFetridge hit a 3-run home run as part of Whitehall’s 20-0 battering of William Allen. She ended her day with 4RBI and Amya Espinal piled on five more. Jules Muth threw a 45 pitch one-hitter, striking out six along the way. Ten of twelve Zephyr batters scored at least a run.
- In a battle of top contenders in District 3 4A and 5A, Twin Valley got by Northern Lebanon 2-1. Northern Lebanon loaded the bases in the top of the first, but Ella Herbst stalled the early threat catching a flyout at her position in center field. They did the same in the third, and broke through this time on a Stephanie Palkovic single. Maggie Krall got things going for Twin Valley in the fifth, singling up the middle and advancing to second on a passed ball. Erin Cromwell knocked her in, putting a ball into right. In the fifth, Olivia Escalona reached on a passed ball third strike in between two outs. Northern Lebanon could have been out of the inning, but Herbst came to bat and drove a triple to right, scoring the go-ahead run. A leadoff single in the top of the seventh gave Northern Lebanon hope, but Cromwell and her defense shut things down to squeeze out the win.
- The Spartans of Wyomissing pounded out 12 runs in the first three innings of a 13-2 win over Oley Valley. Kyla Lytle kicked it all off with a two-run home run beyond the center field fence. A bases loaded walk to Paula Sanchez made it 3-0. Taylor Watts kept the pressure on and blasted the game wide open with a second inning grand slam out to right field. Kylie Schoedler had a 3-for-4 day as well. In the circle, she struck out four and walked none. Lytle and Watts ended up accounting for eight of the team’s eleven RBI.
Friday, 4/4:
- Emmaus traveled to East Stroudsburg South, returning back to the valley with a 17-0 win. The Hornets piled up 12 runs in the first inning, as 16 batters came to the plate. Sophia Tranguch led the way with 4RBI, followed closely by Morgan Schwab with three. Sydney Bennett homered on the afternoon and knocked in two runs. The Cavalieres committed five errors and did not retire any Hornets by way of the strikeout. Mari Eiswerth threw a 34 pitch no-hitter.
- Bangor and Salisbury put up 18 combined runs in the first two innings of their hotly contested game. It would be the Slaters, though, who kept the scoring going, winning 23-8. Lillian Rambo hit a two-run home run early, putting the Slaters up 5-1 after one full inning. Five consecutive run-scoring hits came from the top five batters in the Salisbury lineup in the second inning. That put the Falcons back on top 8-5. Kaileigh McGowan hit a solo home run to start the bottm of the inning, followed soon after by a 2-run longball from Brook Hermanski to tie the game. Sophia Hickler put Bangor on top for good with a single up the middle that scored Emma Chaney. Leading 12-8 heading to the bottom of the fourth, two runners reached, but two outs were recorded. Then, a two out rally consisting of 11 runs coming home to score. Eleven straight batters reached and the game was ended in the mercy rule when Kaylynn Figurski singled home Marissa Siu. Siu scored three times, had three hits, and batted in four runs. Hermanski led her team with 5RBI.
- WIlson Area snapped a three game skid and got back to .500, shutting out winless Catasauqua 12-0. Kiera Hartzell-Ham threw a five inning no-hitter and struck out nine. Seven runs came home in the first inning to put the Warriors in cruise control early. Leadoff bat Aby Colon accounted for 3RBI and three hits, scoring once. Tessa Fredericks, Anna Schmitt and Maci Kovacs all batted in two. Emma Dalpe scored three times.
- Northern Lehigh won its third in a row, shutting out Jim Thorpe 8-0. In the second inning, Tegan Simms reached on an error by Isabella Lloyd. This cleared the then loaded bases and put the Bulldogs ahead 5-0. MacKenzie Chruscial homered in the fifth to up the lead to 7-0. Addi Smith fanned 11 and scattered five hits, blanking the Olympians.
- Lehighton had its short two-game winning streak halted by Tamaqua, 13-1. The Blue Raiders scored in all five innings, taking advantage of eight errors and seven walks. Molly Evans amassed 4RBI on the afternoon; Veronica Scott added three. Peyton Faust struck out eight Indians, allowing only two hits.
- It took Northwestern Lehigh until the sixth inning to break through against Palmerton’s Samantha Wolfe and her fellow Blue Bombers, but they eventually cruised to a 7-1 victory. Natalie Conner grounded out with the bases full in the third inning, ending the only significant threat for the first four innings by either side. A 2-out Hailey Delgado RBI single scored Molly Binder, who had led off the inning wearing a pitch to reach first. Abby Dunstan and Conner came up in the sixth for the Tigers and were two quick outs. Shelby Mitman then walked on four consecutive balls out of the zone. Two batters later, Sam Boyer singled into right. A bobble in right scored two runs, giving the Tigers their first lead. With one out, the Blue Bombers loaded the bases in their half of the sixth, but the inning was ended by a 1-2-3 double play. A Dunstan 2RBI double provided key insurance for Northwestern, ballooning the lead to 5-1 in the seventh. Emma Freeman struck out nine and walked three in the win.
- It was another day and another mercy rule victory for Notre Dame Green Pond. This time, they tore through Saucon Valley 12-2. Natalie Lilly’s sac fly to center scored her sister Hannah. Hannah doubled home two in the second, moving the early Crusaders lead to 4-0. Freshman phenom Riley Palank ended the game in the run rule with a bases clearing double to the fence in center. Rachel Fisher worked efficiently in the circle, needing just 48 pitches over five innings to record 15 outs.
- Pen Argyl gained a valuable conference victory over 5A power Southern Lehigh 4-2. Isabella Germani hit a solo home run in the fifth, moving the Spartans ahead 2-0 late. The Green Knights had had no real threat through five innings. In the bottom of the sixth, Jillian Bradley led off with a single up the mdidle. Grace Weaver reached on an error at shortstop and Abby Scherer walked to load the bases with no outs. Ashlyn Oessenick and Angelina Beltran put the carousel in motion, scoring a run a piece and tying the game. Talia Curtolo walked with the bases still loaded to force in the winning run. Delaney Young, as the tying run with two outs, grounded back to Jill Bradley to close the contest.
- A bottom of the seventh rally lifted Exeter past Muhlenberg 5-4 in a much needed third straight victory for the Eagles who had been battered by a difficult schedule early. Roselyn Hernandez scored the first run of the afternoon as part of a double steal. Cheyenne Boyles tied the game in the third with a 2-out RBI line drive to left. The Muhls ended up leading 4-2 following a home run by Kaylee Jablonski that led off the sixth. Meghan Moyer walked it off for the Eagles, doubling on a fly ball into right and scoring two.
- There was no hangover for Fleetwood following their dramatic comeback against Conrad Weiser. The Tigers dominated Governor Mifflin 12-1 and moved to 7-0 on the year. Peyton Trexler contributed a 3RBI day, while Morgan Koehler’s home run scored two. Isabelle Santangelo struck out six and allowed only one hit.
- Wilson West Lawn rolled over Reading 21-0, scoring 17 in the first inning. Thirteen of those runs came with two outs. Twenty-two batters came to the plate and the inning ended on Leah Berkis leaving third base too early. Berkis and Tatum Werley each had 4RBI days, along with Madi Farrell. All three of them went 3-for-3 at the dish.
- Kutztown moved to 6-1, crushing Berks Catholic 11-1 in six innings. Giana Mirenda put the Saints on the board first, scoring on an error in the outfield on a ball thrown away. Jade Fitzgerald scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first to put the Cougars ahead 2-1. Fitzgerald chased two more runs home in the fifth on a single into left. Brianna Bauscher struck out 11 and walked none in a two-hitter.
- The Hamburg Hawks are now 7-2 following their 11-4 win at Schuylkill Valley. Norah Davey led the game off with a solo home run to left. With the game tied at 1-1, Mackenzie Hoover scored on Davey’s single to short. Kylie Gunter tied the game at 3-3 by singling to short and scoring Kayla Konetsky. Shayna Morales put the Hawks back in front for good on a double in the third. Erica Gerner doubled home Davey and Amelia Gassert, extending the lead to 6-3. On the day, Davey was 4-of-4 with 3RBI. Erica Garner knocked in four.
- Wyomissing dominated Antietam 15-0 in three innings. Only six runs were batted in, as six scored on wild pitches and three more came in on errors. The Spartans only registered three hits as well. Caris Way fanned seven Mounties.
- Payton Besecker kickstarted Freedom’s 9-0 win over Northampton with a 2-run home run in the third. She also closed the scoring on a 2-run double following the same from Namelia Duro. The Konkrete Kids got two on in the fourth and fifth, but could not push any across. Hannah Duerr and Hailey Makovsky accounted for four of the Kids’ six hits.
Saturday, 4/5:
- Palisades got back to their winning ways against a top BCIAA contender in Kutztown, winning 9-3. Rhiley Poniktera greeted the Cougars with a grand slam in the second inning to open up a 4-1 lead. Catie Russo closed out the Pirates’ scoring on a solo shot. Russo was 4-for-4 and scored three times. Poniktera finished the game with 5RBI. Karley Teman added eight strikeouts to her illustrious career.
- Southern Lehigh hung tough with Easton early, but the Red Rovers pulled away for the 9-2 win. Isabella Germani was caught stealing home on a double steal, but Debbi Lewis singled up the middle to score Lila Padden. Audrey Rinda countered in the bottom of the first with a leadoff home run to tie the game. Brooke Davies singled home Tori Ritter in the third, moving the Spartans back ahead 2-1. Young then walked the bases loaded to open Easton’s third, throwing only one strike in 13 pitches. Thalia Burns then walked on a full count to force in the tying run. Kailyn Castellano was then plunked to force in the go-ahead run and put Easton up 3-2. Following a desperately needed 8-2 double play, Zoe Betts brought home two more on a flyball that landed in left. Despite walking six, Rinda did fan ten in her 153 pitch complete game win.
- Nazareth became the first team to humble Notre Dame Green Pond, beating them 11-1 in five innings. Alina Weaver homered as part of a 3RBI day. Natalie Chloros batted in four more. Avery Kauffman struck out seven in a two-hitter. Riley Palank had the lone RBI for the Crusaders. The Crusaders now face fellow 4A frontrunner Northwestern Lehigh on Tuesday.
- Salisbury picked up an 8-1 victory over William Allen. Taylor Wagner homered in her 2RBI effort, joined by 2RBI from Jenna Swoyer. Swoyer through 6.1 innings of three-hit ball, striking out eight and walking three.
- WIlson West Lawn nearly saw a 6-0 lead slip away from them in a home game against Boyertown, but a late run put the Bulldogs over the top for the 7-6 win. A 2-out rally put the Bulldogs ahead 6-0. Abby Zerbe doubled home Layla Kope and Rylea Fick. Tatum Werley then launched a 3-run shot beyond the center field fence on a full count pitch. Boyertown promptly loaded the bases in the fifth and scratched out four runs. A 2-run double in the seventh tied the game at 6-6. Wilson got two on in the bottom of the seventh, but Ava Legath grounded out to short. Wilson loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth after Boyertown went in order. Fick doubled up the middle and Ava Futrick singled. Layla Kope walked. Caitlin Figarola sent everyone home, dumping a ball into center to score the winning run in Olivia Keller.Shannon Bratton fanned a career high 17.
