Vikings Get A Big Win Over The Panthers 79-59

Saturday at historic Rockne Hall Central Catholic Vikings hosted Bethlehem Christian Panthers for a out of conference game. The 1st qtr scoring was close 23-16, but you could see that the difference in size was going to the deciding factor. Big man Yariel Gonzalez put up 10pts and it was evident that the Panthers didn’t have an answer for him. But the Panthers were shooting well Gabe Transue knocked down a couple of 2pt shots and Myles Harris added 2 3pt shots.

The 2nd qtr is when the depth and size of the Vikings took over outscoring the Panthers 27-11. 6 different players scored for Central including 5 3pt shots 2 by Jared Ford. Panthers only put 11pts 7 by Gabe Transue who finished the half with 12pts and Yariel Gonzalez led Central with 16pts and the Vikings led 50-27 at the half

Bethlehem Christian was able to slow down the Vikings in the 3rd qtr and out scored them 14-10 hitting 3 3pt shots 2 by Gabe Transue and 1 for Myles Harris. Yariel Gonzalez added 6 more pts for Central and they led by 19 at the end of the 3rd 60-41.

With the Vikings up by 19, the Panthers needed points and fast. And they got a 9pts from Myles Harris who finished with 20 and 7pts from Gabe Transue who finished with 27pts. But that wasn’t enough, Yariel Gonzalez added 6 more pts finished with game high 30pts Jared Ford 2 more for a total of 15pts and Grayson Schmell 4 more for 11pts on the night.

The Vikings face a tough Northampton team on Monday who will looking get a after losing to a good Lower Merion team 71-45.

The Panthers will face Upper Bucks Christian at home and get back on track with a win.
