Tegan Simms Reaches 1,000 Points and leads Northern Lehigh to 48-22 Victory Over Bangor

Northern Lehigh extended their winning streak to 3 with a dominant win over Bangor, but the story of the game was Tegan Simms. Not only did she reach the 1,000 pt mark in the 1st quarter, she scored 28 of her team’s 48 points. The game was stopped momentarily midway through the 1st to honor her achievement, as she popped a corner 3 to hit the marker. There were balloons, pictures, and teammate hugs to celebrate her special day.

The 1st quarter was mostly Tegan Simms as she scored 9 of Northern Lehigh’s 11 points, including her milestone. Bangor’s 7 came from 3 different players scoring 2 plus a free throw. Those 3 players were Kaylynn Figurski, Grace Hartzell, and Jackelin Miller.

The 2nd quarter saw Simms once again dominate for Northern Lehigh as she was riding high off her accomplishment with 8 more points, bringing her total to 17 points at half. Bangor’s 4 pts came via 2 pt baskets from Abigail Lilly and Jackelin Miller. Northern Lehigh led at half 25-11.

The 3rd quarter was once again the Tegan Simms show, as she added 7 more to her total, bringing it to 24 points on the day. Bangor’s scoring that quarter was just a 2 pt basket by Kaylynn Figurski.

The 4th quarter saw Emily Gad and Tegan Simms lead Northern Lehigh in scoring with 4 pts each, with Simms finishing with 28 as the team’s overall leading scorer and Gad finishing with those 4 pts total on the day. Bangor’s leading scorer was Abigail Lilly that quarter with 5. Jackelin Miller was the overall leading scorer for Bangor with 6 pts.

Northern Lehigh improves to 8-7 with the win, Bangor falls to 3-10 with the loss. Up next, Northern Lehigh travels to take on rival Southern Lehigh on Monday at 6:45. Bangor travels to Moravian Academy on Monday at 6:45 also.
