Newman and Perkiomen two good teams came to Bethlehem Catholic for the GOAT CHALLENGE, though they were not scheduled to play each other, mother nature decided to become a player and dumped 4 plus inches of snow making travel tricky. But thanks to the host team and organizer head coach Arnold Alleyne games were played.
Mizan Shell got the party started with a 3 for Perkiomen and they led 3-0 in fact the 5’8′ guard made 3 more 12pts ended up being Perkiomens leading scorer with 20pts add a 2 by Imilia Feliz and Perkiomen put up 14pts in the 1st qtr. Newman scored 21pts and got pts from 6 different players and 3-3s from Gabby Middletown 9pts, her total for the night.
Newmans size and ability to defend holding Perkiomen to 7pts in the 2nd qtr without fouling kept Perkiomen off the board and off the line. Newman only committed 7 fouls on the night and Perk only went to the line 3 times in the game going 4-6. And contributions from 5 different players on offense, the first half ended with the score 36-21.
In the 3rd qtr Shannon Welburns 3-2s for 6pts led the way to a 26-9 scoring differential, that put Newman up by a score of 62-30 and out of reach for Perkiomen.
The 4th qtr was time for some players to get a little playing time and others work on their long range shots like Phoenix Pedgeon who hit 3-3s, one that was NBA worthy finished with 4-3s and 12pts. Other key contributors were Amiah Noel 6pts Addie Mahar 7pts Ayla Keefe 7pts and game MVP ๐ Hillary Simo 8pts
Final score 76-33 Congratulations to Coach Katie Kolinski and Newman for the win ๐
