Northampton Dominates Freedom 80-46 in Regular Season Finale, Senior Night

In what was a night of reflection for The K-Kids, the team’s 5 seniors were honored before the game including longtime starters, Noah Walakovits, Brady Simock, Leo Regec, and Korbin Sollars. The last senior honored was Logan Walter, who would go on to have a night that he won’t soon forget. With all the seniors honored, the K-Kids shifted their focus to the game, which had a potential impact on playoff seeding.

The 1st quarter saw a competitive back and forth affair, where Freedom would lead the tight game 15-14. Balanced scoring from Freedom saw all its starters on the board with Brody Stellato being the leading scorer of them with 5 points. On the Northampton side, the seniors took over the game, with Noah Walakovits the leading scorer at 6 pts, Brady Simock at 5, and Logan Walter at 3 by the end of the quarter.

The 2nd quarter saw Northampton look like their usual selves, with a 20 point outburst, with Walakovits keeping up his hot night and finishing as the leading scorer with 8 points in that quarter. They also got contributions from Jake Raysely, who had 6 pts in the quarter and 3 pointers from both Leo Regec and Marcus Ramos. Elijah Zempfer was the leading scorer for Freedom with 4 points out of their 6, who were held scoreless until the 2:40 mark of the quarter, when Braeden Lewis scored 2 on a layup. Northampton lead at half 34-21.

The 3rd quarter saw Northampton keep their foot on the gas and score 29 points as a team in the quarter. Walakovits was once again the leading scorer of the quarter with 11 more points to add to his already impressive 14 points. Logan Walter made the most of his playing opportunity adding 9 more points that quarter, and Brady Simock added 6 more points to his total. Freedom’s Vincent Gates was their leading scorer of the quarter with 5 points.

The 4th quarter saw balanced scoring from the K-Kids lineup to close out the game. The leading scorer for them this quarter was Jake Raysely with 5 points. Walter and Sollars had 3 points each, and the Walakovits, Regec, and Chase Christman had 2 each. Freedom’s leading scorers of the quarter were Vincent Gates and Christian Engelhart with 2 each. The leading scorers for Northampton were Noah Walakovits was 27 points and Logan Walter with 15 points. The leading scorer for Freedom was Elijah Zempfer with 14 points.

Up next, The K-Kids await their playoff opponent this Friday at home as the #2 seed, by virtue of a Nazareth loss to Liberty. As for Freedom, they can turn the page on this season, which saw them finish 1-21 and shift their focus to next year.
