Season Outlook
We lost a lot of production as well as team leadership both last year and the year before. Replacing the production is the first challenge. We graduated a record breaking QB (Antonio Fontanez), a record breaking WR (Jake Pukszyn), two outstanding RBs (Gabe Green and Adriaan Deleon), an Ivy League offensive lineman (Nick Schenkel), and one of the most productive linebackers in school history (JJ Pujals) as well as a few other impactful players. Even with all those losses, the cupboard is thankfully not bare. We return 4 out of 5 starting offensive linemen and one of the top wide receivers in the state. I am also excited to see some talented guys who were waiting in the wings get their chance to shine this year. The biggest question we have is the quarterback position where we will have a battle for the starting job in camp. Replacing leadership is the next big challenge. We were very much a player led team last year and this year the dynamic is much different. We need some of our younger guys to grow into those leadership roles. The final challenge is replacing both coordinators. While there won’t be dramatic changes, there will be adjustments in scheme on both sides of the ball.
